Lucie is a soft women's backpack for the days when you want both hands free: a commute, a day in town, a short trip or a walk with the grandchildren. The body is gently slouchy, a flap closes the top with a vertical zip down the middle, and two zip pockets on the front keep your phone, keys and cards where you can reach them without taking the bag off. It sits neatly on the back and looks smarter than a sports rucksack.

Front zip pockets and organisation

The main compartment is lined with polyester and opens wide, so you can see everything at once. Inside there is a zip pocket for small valuables. On the outside, two zip pockets run across the front and a pocket on each side holds a water bottle or an umbrella. A top handle lets you carry Lucie by hand when you do not want it on your shoulders.

Worn on both shoulders or carried by hand

The two shoulder straps spread the weight across both shoulders, which is kinder to your neck and back than a bag carried on one side all day. When you reach the office or a restaurant, switch to the top handle and carry it like a handbag.

Colours: black, olive green and cognac

Black is the easy choice that goes with every coat. Olive green is a deep, muted shade that works beautifully with cream, denim and camel. Cognac is a warm tan-brown that brightens a grey winter outfit.

Finish and care

The outer has a soft, grained, slightly crinkled finish that looks lived-in from day one and hides small scratches. Wipe it with a damp soft cloth, keep it away from sharp objects and from dye-heavy fabrics such as new denim, and stuff it lightly when you store it so it keeps its shape.
